Matsue Horan-Enya Memorial Hall
Dedicated to one of the three biggest boat festivals in Japan
An array of vessels that add abundance to daily life
Yumachi pottery is produced near the Tamatsukuri Hot Spring, which is also called Japan’s leading “hot spring of beautiful skin.” The pottery produced here has a rich color range thanks to the locally-sourced raw materials. The lovingly-made objects include traditional tea cups, egg cookers for creating beautiful sunny-side-up eggs, various kinds of shallow bowls, coffee and tea cups, Japanese yunomi tea cups, and vases. The kiln has inherited the spirit of craftsmanship and pottery techniques that have been passed down directly by prominent figures from the pottery world and others, and it continues to deliver joy and a deep sense of warmth to everyday life.
